Welcome ------- FunctionMagic for Lotus 1-2-3 versions 4.x and 5.x for Windows 3.1 is a new and improved interface for Lotus functions. It is a tool that allows the Lotus user to enter and apply functions syntax free on a cell, a row or a column of data. Using dialog boxes, buttons and edit boxes, the user defines the function, enters data, selects options and selects data from the worksheet. Installation ------------ In this disk the main file is the FUNCMAGC.ZIP file, which is an archive file in a ZIP compatible format. We have used a public domain ZIP 2.0 compatible utility which is available on many Internet sites. To install the program, unzip it into a directory in your hard disk using any "UNZIP" utility such as the one available from PC-MAGAZINE, NORTON, PKware etc. In the directory you will see many *.WK4 files which are Lotus macro files used by the FUNCMAGC.WK4 menu driven macro program. You can also use each macro separately. Another file is the FUNCMAGC.HLP file which is the manual in the form of a Windows 3.1 help file. The last file is the MAGIC.EXE file, which is a nine minutes movie file which was created by Lotus SCREENCAM and demonstrates the use of the FunctionMagic program. To view the movie you have to start it from Windows 3.1. It is not a DOS program. To start it, double click with mouse on the MAGIC.EXE file name or select it and press ENTER. To avoid the opening Lotus logo screen of the SCREENCAM program, Select from Windows the following menu options: File Run and type MAGIC.EXE /SC in the command line and select OK. When you are using the FUNCMAGC.WK4 program in Lotus 1-2-3, you can start the movie from the program's custom menu. Starting the Main Program ------------------------- Start Lotus 1-2-3 version 4.01 or 5.0 for Windows 3.1 and make the new directory the default directory. Use the User Setup or use the Lotus CLASSIC command sequence: / W G D D and press the ENTER key. Open one of your worksheets or open a new one and then open the FUNCMAGC.WK4 file into Lotus 1-2-3. Make your worksheet the current worksheet and press the Ctrl-Y key combination to start FunctionMagic. Now you can use the mouse to select and apply most of Lotus 1-2-3 functions. Using an Individual Function Without the Main Program ----------------------------------------------------- If you prefer, you can use all the functions individually without the main program. Just open the appropriate file and use the instructions. For example, if you want to perform a Student's t-test, open the TTEST.WK4 file and follow the instructions. Note: All the function files are standard Lotus 1-2-3 macros. You start them as any Lotus 1-2-3 macro, press ALT-F3, select the @@@XXX or the 0@@@XXX macro name and select OK.
